…finds herself in between textile and architecture, intuitive and logical, soft and hard…
Danica Pišteková is a speculative architect who places a strong emphasis on the concept of soft spaces. She embarked on her academic journey in the field of fashion design, later shifting her focus to architecture at the AFAD in Bratislava. It was here that she began delving into the intricacies of the human body, soft architectural forms, and the interplay between clothing and space in physical prototypes as well as in digital interfaces. Her unconventional and unique approach transcends traditional norms and blurs the boundaries between textile and architectural envelopes. She always looks for a liminal, specific, engaging architecture that is more fluid than static, softer than hard, more lived-in, changing, haptic, and vulnerable. Designing as discovery. How would it be to live in a soft space?
Danica currently leads a studio “On Bodies and Space” at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava
