Danica Pišteková

Architecture is filled with various soft proximities, revealing that not only people but also the spaces around us can be dressed.

Danica Pišteková is a speculative architect with a strong emphasis on the concept of soft spaces. She began her academic journey in fashion design before shifting her focus to architecture, exploring the intricacies of the human body, soft architectural forms, and the interplay between clothing and space—both in physical prototypes and digital interfaces. Her unconventional approach transcends traditional norms, blurring the boundaries between textiles and architectural envelopes. She continuously seeks a liminal, specific, and engaging architecture—one that is more fluid than static, softer than hard, more lived-in, ever-changing, haptic, and vulnerable. Designing as discovery. What would it be like to live in a soft space?
Danica currently leads a studio “On Bodies and Space” at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava and is open to collaborations with brands and creative partners seeking innovative spatial solutions, speculative pavilions or retail environments.
